EMPOWER YOURSELF Turn Passion into Action “I never notice what has been done. I only see what remains to be done.” Madame Curie It’s been a slow start, but summer is finally here! I hope that you are making the time to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with friends, family, or with the best company of all – yourself! If you are not an outdoors person (those darn mosquitoes), then I hope you are enjoying your indoor time by perhaps taking a trip, or by simply enjoying the comforts of home. Holidays mean different things to different people. For some, it is a chance to escape the routines of daily existence. For others, it is a chance to re-connect with family and friends. Still for others, it is a time for a new adventure. Then there are those that prefer some quiet time (alone), to recharge and to re-evaluate their life. No matter which way you choose to recharge, I hope that you make the time to kick-back, put your feet up and to look at how things are going in your life. This is important, as it is during these down times that we allow ourselves the luxury of looking within and asking ourselves, “Am I doing what I love to do?” “Am I living with passion and purpose?” Holiday’s are the perfect time to reinvent ourselves as we are not in our usual “hurried” state of daily rituals. Are you ready to take a good look at yourself and answer the above questions? Are you ready to make some changes – to reinvent your life? It is not that difficult to do if you take one small step at a time. Here are some suggestions for helping you to discover your passion: 1. Take a leap of faith. Believe in yourself. Trust that you are worth the effort. Step out of your comfort zone! 2. Give more to those around you. By investing time in yourself, you will have more energy, love and time for others. Try it! 3. Listen…to yourself. This is not an easy one. It takes a lot of practice and patience. Your passion and your purpose are imprinted on your soul. It is there for the taking if you learn to pay attention to what it is trying to tell you. 4. Follow your instincts. We know ourselves the best. We possess the answers to all the questions about our passion in life. Be bold and make the most powerful voice in your life your own. Family and friends mean well, but you know yourself the best. 5. Take action! It takes passion, courage and hard work to find a profession that you love. Spending the time to find that job is one of the best investments that you could ever give yourself. It could simply – change your life! 6. Don’t look back. It’s easy to look at our past and to have some regrets over some of the decisions that you have made along the way. This only serves one purpose – it sucks the energy right out of you! Instead, focus on the skills that you have developed along the way and the knowledge you have gained. 7. Be patient with yourself. Finding your passion and purpose will not happen overnight. It takes a strong desire to live a more authentic life, as well as time, energy, hard work, and a willingness to really look deep within yourself – maybe for the first time in your life. This may be WAY outside your comfort zone, so be gentle and patient with yourself. This Month… Start thinking about or journaling the following: 1. Am I doing what I really love to do? If not, what is it that I have always wanted to do / investigate / get involved in? 2. Am I living with passion and purpose? If yes, how? If no, why? Do I know my passion and purpose? If not, are you willing to do the work required to discover what it is? If your answer is yes, then an easy way to get you started is by trying the above 7 steps. Empower Yourself – Try This: State your passion and purpose in two sentences or less. OR If you are still in the discovery process or are not quite sure, commit to 15 minutes per week to carve our some quiet time alone to work on some of the suggestions above. Please feel free to ask any questions or to make a comment. I will get back to you ASAP. Have a fantastic summer! Until next month, warm blessings to all, Deb Fortier |
